threats to Biodiversity

Human activities significantly threaten biodiversity through various mechanisms. One major factor is habitat loss, which reduces the variety of species by converting natural environments into agricultural lands or urban areas, thereby displacing native wildlife.

Threats To Biodiversity

Over-harvesting

the consequences are leads to loss of biodiversity and environmental consequences
For example, mahogany is a type of tree which makes furniture and instruments so people chop them down but this type of tree grows slowly so there isnt enough mahogany for the resources .
when humans use too much of a resource they destroy it which causes damage to habitats and environments
Humans use too much of a resource and ends up destroying them

Habitat loss

the consequences are habitat loss reduce species richness
For example,The conversion of tropical forests to palm oil plantations is placing stress on population of orangutans, tigers, elephants, and rhinos
when habitats are cleared to farm, build cities, roads and more which makes less space for the biodiversity which sometime leads to killing biodiversity .
When humans destroy a habitat to make houses.etc they reduce it to a little bit for the biodiversity

Climate Change

the consequences are species cannot adapt with rising temuptures
For example, in the arctic the ice is melting
Human burning of fossil fues release large amounts of gases into the air which cause climate/weather change
its the change of earths weather

Invasive species

the consequences native species and introduced species fight for resources and change way environment works
For example, when the brown tree snake was introduced to its new environment it started to eat a lot of the other species
When humans bring plants or tom one ecosystem to another and this may happen accidentally or on purpose
When species are introduced to a habitat they are called non native species, some native species can threat environments and habitats and they are called invasive species

Poullution

the consequences are pollution in air, water can hurt/kill plants and animals
For example,Fertilizers are washed away to bodies of water like the gulf of mexico causing rapid growth of undesirable types of algae
When we drive cars, buses and more and when we spill teh oil in teh water we destroy many habitats and kill wild life with it.
pollution is harmful gases liquids and more .
