La organización de las culturas andinas se caracterizaba por una estructura social y territorial compleja, con los Incas a la cabeza del vasto imperio del Tahuantinsuyo. La población se distribuía en Suyos, cada uno compuesto por Huamanis y Sayas, a su vez formados por ayllus que eran clanes de familias emparentadas.
