Biome Growth Timeline

A group of individuals collaboratively outlines a 100-year plan to restore a biome following a devastating flood. Initially, the area is left with only decomposers and damaged vegetation.

Biome Growth Timeline

Our timeline wil be more successful than the last ecologists because we're focusing on the long term success of our biome by making sure we've built a firm foundation of plants before adding animals, and making sure every animal has prey and predators so that the ecosystem remains balanced. We've payed attention to the food web and looked at all the factors that could effect the long term success of our biome.

100 Years Later

Ecosystem running as it did before, all of the animals and plants are back in the biome. Just about time for another flood...

50 Years Later

The ecosystem will be close to the way it was before the disaster, trees will be almost full size and moss will be gathering on trees and rocks.

25 Years Later

Trees will almost be full size now, the soil will be very rich. We will stop adding thigs and just let nature run it's course.

10 Years Later

We will introduce the bluejays now that the trees have grown to a reasonable size. The ecosystem will be starting to get back to normal.

5 Years Later

We will introduce the red fox now that the white bass and fox snake (its prey) have been repopulated, many of the trees will now be getting bigger.

3 Years Later

We will introduce the fox snake now that its prey has had time to populate, once the fox snake is pretty well populated we'll introduce the red tailed hawk as a predator and the minnows and white bass as prey for the next predator, the red fox.

2 Years Later

We will introduce rabbits, mice, frogs(food for the fox snake), slugs, snails, ants, bees, and Daphnea to the habitat. Most plants will have grown back and the trees will have just sprouted.

1 Year Later

More plants will start to regrow, add in the feild plants and grass (habitat for the fox snake and small mammals), wildflowers, maple and deciduous tree seeds, and pond plants to allow them time to fully grow.

Immedietly After Flood

After the flood only bugs(worms, and other decomposers) are left in the area, trees have been knocked over, the water supply is contaminated from chemicals and mud onshore, and the shorelines are eroding into the water. Puddles of still water are perfect for mysquetos. Once the water has left the land we'll add the lichens to help regrow the soil.
