GEOMETRIC MIND MAP

The document discusses basic geometric shapes, focusing on the properties and classifications of triangles, circles, and quadrilaterals. Triangles are introduced as three-sided polygons, with specific types including scalene, equilateral, and isosceles, each defined by the relative lengths of their sides.

GEOMETRIC MIND MAP

INTRO TO GEOMETRIC SHAPES: SIDE MEASUREMENTS-GRADE 2

CIRCLES: A 2-dimensional shape made by drawing a curve that is always the same distance from the center.

Oval: An oval is any curve that looks like an egg or an ellipse.
Semicircle: Half a circle
A quarter of a circle (made by two radiuses at right angles and the connecting arc)
Measurements of a circle

TRIANGLES: A 3-sided polygon (a flat shape with straight sides).

Equilateral: Length of all sides are equal.
Isosceles: Length of 2 sides are equal.
Scalene: Length of all sides are different.

QUADRILATERALS: Has four-sides, it is 2-dimensional (a flat shape), closed (the lines join up), and has straight sides.

KITE: A shape that has: • has two pairs of sides. • each pair is made of two adjacent sides (they meet) that are equal in length.  The angles are equal where the pairs meet. The dashed lines are diagonals, which meet at a right angle. And one of the diagonals bisects (cuts equally in half) the other.
TRAPEZOID: Has a pair of opposite sides that are parallel. The sides that are parallel are called "bases". The other sides are "legs" (which may or may not be parallel).
PARALLELOGRAM: A shape where opposite sides are parallel. Also: • opposite sides are equal in length, and • opposite angles are equal
