Tips for identifying countries by region
Twitter geolocating tweets
This is a trick to use Twitter to find tweets in within a certain radius. You need the geocode to use this feature:
- Use geocode.xyz or Google maps to find your geocode. This is in the URL of the google maps
- e.g. for Borough market the geocode is @51.5044772,-0.082161,
- In the Twitter search bar use the format - geocode: latitude, longitude, radius
- e.g. 51.5044772,-0.082161,10km
- You can also filter by tweet type e.g. including photos with the filter: function
- e.g. 51.5044772,-0.082161,10km filter:media
Other filters include:
- filter:media
- filter:native_video
- filter:links
- filter:images
- url:oscars
More information can be viewed at this URL https://www.tweetbinder.com/blog/twitter-geocode

Yandex Maps
Yandex Maps offers an option to view an area bu "hot air balloon" which can be useful when an area has limited street view coverage or is built up. To use this feature:
- Type in the area you are wanting to view
- Navigate to the panel in the top right hand corner and select the 'street panoramas and photos' tab
- Select panoramas
- Choose one of the hot air balloon views on the map
- You can move between hot air balloon views by selecting another one in the distance
Note: this feature appears to be largely Eastern Europe focused
Tip: Hot Air Balloon feature in Eastern Europe
MapChannels
Map Channels shows 3 different map views:
- Traditional map
- Aerial view
- Streetview
The map moves as you do so can be useful if matching up a map to an aerial view

Breach Password Custom Machine
This Maltego Custom Machine will automatically identify breach passwords associated with an email address, extract the password/s and identify additional email addresses associated with that/those password/s.
This technique could potentially find additional email addresses associated with your target. However, you will always need to evaluate and corroborate your findings.
Download the .mtz file titled 'Breach Password' from here.
Upload the .mtz file to Maltego and run the Custom Machine.

Google Analytics
Additional/alternative emails can be find by using Google Analytics. This is helpful if you have a non-gmail email (e.g. yahoo/outlook/aol/hotmail) so you can potentially find a gmail account linked to these alternative emails.
This tool works if someone has set up an alternative/backup/recovery email account for their gmail.
- Set up your google analytics account with your gmail
- Upon creating account it will prompt you to set up an analytics account, but this can be filled with any details as is just used to get further access (e.g. sky.com)
- When you're in, navigate to the admin panel which can be found on the bottom left hand corner. It is a blue circle with a cog in it
- Select 'Account access management' and a panel will appear with those who have access (this should just be your email/name)
- Select the 'plus' button in the top right hand corner and click 'add users'
- Here you can enter an email address on the first box that comes up (I deselect 'notify new users by email' just for safety)
- Type/copy the email address you have for your subject
- When you hit 'enter' after the email, if the person has set up an alternative email for that account, the email will automatically change
- Remember to delete the email and click 'don't save' when you exit

Epieos
The 'Last Update' section on email results
This refers to data updated by Google when there has been any modification to the profile, i.e. profile picture, birthday, birthday visibility, name, name visibility, change in contact information, gender and gender visibility.
Regarding other email domains, such as Yahoo and Outlook, Epieos further stated that the last update information applies to any email used to create a Google account. However, the information only refers to changes made to the Google account. For example, if you are checking a Yahoo account that is linked with a Google account, the date displayed will refer to changes made to their Google account rather than the Yahoo email address being checked.
Please note that the last update section does not refer to when a user logs in or out, receives or sends an email, changes their password or does password recovery or uses Google authentication to create a new account elsewhere.
While the last update information does not verify whether an email address is active, analysts can infer from the date listed in this section whether the email address is being used or not.

Tip: YouTube platform translation
YouTube offers the ability to translate certain videos on its platform. Doesn't tend to work for all videos but always worth checking.
All you need to do is click the 3 dots in the title bar of the video next to where it has information on the likes, dislikes, share and save.
Then click 'show transcript' and the transcript will appear on the side which you can copy and paste into a translation tool.
YouTube also offers the ability to add subtitles on a video which can be added be selecting the second icon along in the video itself (looks like a square with some lines and dots on it). However, haven't found this to be that effective when then translating that within the subtitles, but the option is there.

Find routes on a private account
If you suspect or know your person is an established rider or runner, there is a Strava workaround by using segments and leaderboards if you know the location of your person.
- Go onto the explore tab and 'segment explore'
- Navigate to/search for the area you suspect the person would have completed activity (zooming in/out gives more/less results)
- Select 'cycling' or 'running' at the top
- Click on a segment and 'view details'
- Scroll down to the leaderboard section
- Play around with the filters on the left to get different results
- Click on the date of the activity to reveal the full run/cycle which is attributed to that leaderboard effort
Note: A premium account can show a full leaderboard rather than just the top 10

Downloading public content
- To download a Snap from Snapmap, open up Developer Tools by clicking F12 or right-clicking on the page and selecting Inspect.
- Within the Developer Tools menu, select the Network tab and then the Media subtab.
- If the data section for Media is empty then you may need to refresh the page using the Refresh button or clicking ‘Ctrl’ + ‘R’.
- Right-click on the snap link and click to open it in a new tab.
- Similarly, the same process can also be used to download a video from a Snapchat user’s story. To download a Snap from Stories, open up Developer Tools by clicking F12 or right-clicking on the page and selecting Inspect.
Alternatively, locate the video under the Headers, copying and pasting the URL into a new tab, or the Preview tab, right-clicking on the video and selecting to open it in a new tab.
- Once a Snap has been opened in a new window, you will be able to play the Snap.
- In the bottom-right corner of the video, there will be an Options button, which has 3 dots.
- Clicking the Options button will open up a list of options. Click the ‘Download’ button to save the Snap to your device.
- You might find that there is a blurry section on the screen, which is due to an overlay label that has been removed. By default, Snap removes the graphics overlay layer added by users from public stories. However, this overlay can be readded to the Snap and shown by manipulating the URL, enabling investigators to view the original video as it was uploaded.
- In the following URL, https://s.sc-cdn.net/<string>/default/media.mp4, replace “media.mp4” with “embedded.mp4”
- After changing the URL, the overlay will be visible on the video.
