Teacher Workshops
Our art/drama teachers need opportunities to learn new techniques
CODE Conference for Drama Teachers
Meeting with Director from Magnus, Paramount
Needs to be curriculum based
PLC's could be done at the LU Art Building or the Thunder Bay Art Gallery
Training Expo
- local training with local resources
Brining in Community Artists
Board needs to develop a honorarium system that all schools could connect with
The artists could be given a bulk honorarium to work with all the schools
Need a liaison/list of networks
Need time to get together to put it all together
Struggles
What interventions weren't successful?
when I did not use one on one with some students to review process in smaller groups after initial instruction
several differnt types of learners with various strenghts
Make up assignments
Attendance - students are engaged in dynamic lessons, but only when/if they attend.
Calling home regarding absences- actually... anything that had to do with absences
never have had such bad calls as this year
A number of students do not know nor care about school absence policies. A few parents do not follow through either.

Successes
What has work for you this year?
spending more time on skills than content
used a self peer editing check list
give part marks on rubric for preliminaries for expanding on their ideas
encourage them to continue to improve while completing project
using video for self assessment
more focus on the PROCESS of learning (feedback during preliminary stages) and less emphasis on the mark
Do you assess the process work? If the student doesn't complete the end project will his/her process mark count instead?
working with new materials
students love to experiment with different materials (the teenage brain) so build in some time to play with the media
Subtopic
One on one...if there's time
How did you engineer the time to work one on one?
getting to know the student/building a positive relationship
I agree
