What do they eat?

Insects eat a huge range of foods. Around half are plant-eaters, feeding on leaves, roots, seeds, nectar, or wood. Praying mantises are predators, hunting other small creatures.

What is an insect?

Insects are invertebrates, which means they have no backbone. Insects have six legs, antennae, and three parts to their body. There are between six and ten million different types of insects. They can eat plants, other animals, and even blood.
