These 7 Essentials are the basis of proper tone porduction! A musician should always consider these subjects when playing your instrument because each essential helps another!

Hand Position
For either wind players or percussionist, hand position is important because you can reach the full potential of your instrument and to ensure proper care for it s well.
Release
For wind player, the release is the manner in which you stop the sound when playing. A tip to a great release is taking a slight breath in to end a note.
Sustain
To sustain is to maintain sound without interuption. The key is to strive for the clearest sound possible.
Attack
The attack is the act or manner of how you approach a note. Breath support and the correct embouchure ensures a good attack.

Most emembouchures on any wind instrument require a flat chin, tight corners of the mouth. Leave a space between the center of your lps for air flow.
Posture
For wind players, always sit to the edge of your chair with feet flat on the floor, and keep your back straight.
Breath Support
Breath from the diaphragm; not the chest. Take in enough air to support the phrase you are about to play
