My belief or thesis statement: I think humans learn a lot from our pets.
The story has three moments:
Ringo returns home again and live with us: seven years
Ringo is lost: two years
Ringo comes to our family: six month
Ringo lived with us for eight years and gave us many lessons.
Lost
When Ringo got lost, it was a difficult time for us, but especially for my children.
Many ideas went through our heads about what could have happened to Ringo:
We thought we would never see him again.
That, someone, had stolen Ringo to take him to another place (farm or another city)
That a car had hit him.
We think he was dead.
Ringo taught us many things.
My children learn to take care of another living being. With Ringo they learned to sacrifice themselves for another.
Ringo taught my children to do something for others. They had to take out Ringo for a walk every afternoon.
Ringo taught my children the love of animals.
Unconditional love: Ringo loved us no matter what car we had, no matter what house we lived in, or no matter how difficult life got.
Forgiveness: we hold a grudge long after someone has hurt us, but Ringo always forgave us.
Loyalty because despite spending so much time in the company of another person, Ringo remains faithful to us.
Hope because when we believed that all was lost one day he appeared again.
Many people have a pet in their homes.
