Power Teacher Pro

Introducing Power Teacher Pro faced challenges due to poor timing and insufficient preparation. Teachers had minimal time to familiarize themselves with the new tool, as the rollout occurred too close to the start of classes.

Power Teacher Pro

Provide more opportunities for IT staff to learn the features

More time needed for newer IT staff to work with the program in advance of roll out
IT staff should have had training before teachers had access
Mock classes should have more available to them like adjusting attendance

What IT Could do to improve transition

Work with smaller groups of teacher (departments) - train department heads to assist their department and new staff.
Both programs had very similar tools/feature they were just located differently in each.

Mandatory PD

Teachers were expected to complete the D2L on the new resource - but it was not made mandatory
Videos and walk throughs were made and provided and not made mandatory for teachers to look at

Give more time for teachers to learn the new tool

Teachers were told about the Change in June but only had 2 days to work with the program before classes went in
Roll out for this should have been in the early spring to allow teachers a chance to switch early to test it out
Access to resources hard to find - make it easier to navigate
