Here explain how the story brought out ideas, that are different from the other texts, but relate to unit question.
this poem brought out ideas from the other text but still led to the unit question because in this poem it talks about how this character use to feel and how they were treated and now the character gained confidence and perservered through the negative comments.
these quotes led me to think of an answer for the unit question How do people motivate themselves to persevere over seemingly enormous odds? because the quotes are saying that people persevere because a failure can push someone to reach there goal.
initialy i thought the answer of the unit question was that people peprservere over odds because they dont want to be looked as a failure to other people. but these quotes helped me realize that people perservere because when they fail once we feel the need to try again.

"The Old Man and the Sea" by Ernest Hemingway

Here explain how specific words gave you insight into Santiago's feelings
I wish i could feed dthe fish he thought he is my brother. but I must kill him and keep strong to do it. Slowly and concientiouslyhe ate all of the wedge shaped strips of fish. He straightened up wiping his hand on luis trousers.
this shows how killing the fish would affect him
"he was an old man who fished alone in a skiff in gulf stream and he had gone eighty four days without taking fish"
the old man being alone and not catching after eighty four days brings out the feeling of determination and perseverance.
the old man focuses on the main goal and pushes himself to catch more fish. This can be an answer to the unit question "how do people motivate themselves to perservere over enormous odds.

Here explain how specific words gave you insight into the narrator's feelings
Here explain how those feelings gave you insight into a unit question.
i still rise by maya angelou
You may shoot me with your words,
You may cut me with your eyes,
You may kill me with your hatefulness,
But still, like air, I’ll rise.
this quote gave me insight on the narrators feelings because it shows how the character is persevering because no matter what the people say the character will rise.
this gave me insight on a unit question because it shows how the character wont let people bring them down
Did you want to see me broken?
Bowed head and lowered eyes?
Shoulders falling down like teardrops,
Weakened by my soulful cries?
this quote gave me insight on the narrators feelings because it shows how she used to be broken and down based on her body languege
this gave me insight on the unit question because in this quote it was talking about how she used to be down and has the poem went on she started to persevere and gain confidence.
LESSONS FROM FAILURE: WHY WE TRY, TRY AGAIN
“No matter what causes a letdown there are many ways to cope, one way is to concentrate onto what led to the failure in the first place. If someone fails a test, a problem focus approach is to study harder for that test next time.
“Everyone experiences failures but not everybody brushes them off and try again. A new study shows that focusing on what can be learned from a failure appears to help people persevere with a successful chance the next time”
Here explain how you would answer the unit question. You can find what you wrote in 4.0 people get over enormous odds by the help of an inspiration. I think this because if someone is inspired by someone and they want to be great like their inspiration then they would push ' to be great like their inspiration.
