Science: Climate change

The rise in global temperatures due to climate change significantly impacts flooding patterns. One major factor is the rapid melting of snow, which results in an increased volume of water entering rivers and streams in a short period, leading to floods and flash floods.

How does global warming effects flooding?

Flash floods are unexpected.

The air temperature is rising near the surface. - This causes snow to melt very quickly and with lots of snow melting at once it creates floods or flash floods.

Different snow patterns are occurring all over the country. -With spring coming most of the snow is melting to increase the amount of floods and it is hard to tell where the floods are going to occur.

My expert contact replied, but he was a jerk and didn't answer my questions just asked more questions.

Deforestation decreases how much water is absorbed by the soil, the water that doesn't seep into the soil will start to stack up to create floods.

Australia has lots of deforestation and brush clearance -This increases the amount and how fast the runoff happens, allowing flash floods to occur.

The moisture in the atmosphere is increasing, more water is being evaporated during the water cycle. -90% of water in the atmosphere is evaporated from the water cycle and more and more is being evaporated because the ozone layer is fading leaving the suns heat not much to fight through.

Flooding is very powerful and can move cars houses and more.
