The middle English period

The evolution of the English language from 1066 to 1509 can be divided into three key periods: decline, ascent, and triumph. Initially, following the Norman Conquest, French became the official language of England, relegating English to the lower classes and replacing it with Latin in certain areas.

In the middle english the structure complexity and syntax of old english had disappeared, the most significant development was phonological, labeling, unstressed vowels let to reduction of inflectionals distinctions, changes on morphology and syntax of english language.

English triumphant 1348-1509

1500: English began to obtain a new position from original Europe language, to a global system of communication.

7.-William Caxton 1476: The introduction of printing, let to spread old english in books.

5.-Geoffrey Chaucer 1342-1400: He invented the "high style" using rommances (Latin and French) borrows. The Canterbury Tales (1387).
4.-William Langland: Piers Plowman 1360, this poem was regarding the simple Cristian life.
