A successful performance involves several critical elements, including preparation, energy, and vocal quality. An actor must efficiently set up the stage and props while ensuring minimal disruption.
The actor will approach the the stage with enthusiasm and make a positive impression when his name is called.
Introduction
In a simple introduction it will include the students name and the character he will be playing. It will also have the title of the play and the name of the author.
Energy
Energy may be emotional, physical, vocal, or physical.
Movement
Gestures are movements that you make with your hands to over exaggerate things.
Body language can include breathing, facial expressions, movement, posture, and gestures. It sends a message without talking.
Blocking is when you have planned out movement on-stage. Often times the blocking will be written in the script.
There are a lot of different things that go into posture such as health, age, the characters self confidence, and the characters relationship with others that are in the scene.
The use of of props, pantomime, posture, blocking, business, , body language, and gestures that supports the objective of the the scene is movement.
Voice
Confidence is a combination of pronunciation, projection, quality, and articulation.
Pronunciation is to say all the word correctly.
Quality is the niceness in someones voice if you use an unusual voice for too long then it might damage your voice.
Projection is when you can hear the voice through the audience.
Intensity is the intensity in a voice.
Articulation is to say the word clearly.
A director will look for articulation, intensity, projection, quality, pronunciation, confidence.
Setup
He will setup props quickly and quietly if they are used in the performance.
