The World War One Trench

trench warfare first started in world war one, the trench was a 10 to 12 foot deep trench hence its name, soldiers would line the edges with sandbags to protect them from shrapnel, there was different types of trenches, front-line trench, support trench, communication trench and the reserve trench. there was also bunkers to hold ammunitions and other things. soldiers had to spend upwards of 4 years living in the trenches.

The Halifax Explosion

December 6, 1917

the Halifax explosion was a disaster that occurred in 1917 when a French cargo ship the SS Mont blanc carrying high explosives crashed into the SS Imo causing a massive explosion devastating the city and killing over 1.5 thousand people and a estimated 9000 people injured.

Arthur Currie
