Extrinsic Factors

The conditions under which a body is buried or found play a significant role in its preservation and decomposition. Water-logged environments, such as pit bogs, preserve bodies well due to acidic, cool, and anaerobic conditions that maintain soft tissues and internal organs but can demineralize bones.
