Experts conducted a series of analyses to determine the authenticity of a purported Cezanne painting. Dr. Pruschy utilized UV spectroscopy to examine a paint chip and found an unusual absorption level of polyene, suggesting the piece is not a century old due to identical absorption in each layer.
Findings: 1- Yellow areas could be cadmium Based Pigment 2- Such pigment mix wasn't used at Cezanne's time. 3- Presence of underdrawing paints. 4-Animal Glue binder 5-Such binders were used in the late 19th century.
Method: IR Spectroscopy, IR Refractography & Transmission Spectra
Dr. Marden
Conclusion: 1-A previously unknown Cezanne. 2-Probably painted in late 1880's
Findings: 1- unsigned painting usual for Cezanne 2-Similar to another Cezanne painting. 3- Characteristics of Cezanne's work: Bruskwork with solid brushstrokes groupings
Method: No Method used, ONLY Analysis.
Dr. Pruschy
Conclusion: 1- Not Hundred Years old 2- Each Layer has identical absorption.
Findings: 1- Substantial Absportion of Polyene 2- Absportion should be 0.15 but is 0.6
Method: 1- Investigated UV Spectrum of Paint Chip 2- UV Spectrum of paint chip
