CRT Principles Differential Racialization

This principle holds that racial groups in the United States (Latinos, blacks, natives, and asian American) are racialized different ways with regard to the various needs of the majority group. The Social Construction of Race: Race is perceived as a social system of categorizing people based on their physical attributes such as skin color and hair. Endemic Racism is a normal and ordinary everyday occurrence fr people from ethnic groups. Interest Convergence and Material Determinism:Because of racism, the majority enjoys the privilege of access to resources and thus, oppresses the minority. Voices of Color: The majority group accounts for historical vents excluding racial and other minority perspective wih the aim of legitimizing power. Antiessentiallism/Intersectionality: CRT acknowledges that fighting racism without multidimensional framework can only lead to more racial discrimination than eliminating racism.

How I intend to Incorporate Social Constructionsim Theory in My Social Work Practice

Critical Race Theory (CRT)

Social Capital Theory

The endemic racism principle of critical race theory explains why racism and ethnic discrimination are an accepted daily occurrence norm in the United States. As a social worker, I realize that the endemic principle can be a guiding factor to address those clients who have experienced incarceration, especially with regard to the Latino group. Many Latino youth and up in jails because of structural racism. The six principle of CRT are anchored maibly on how racism is related to legal issues and other indiscriminative acts. This theory will be the guiding principle to address issues related to racism. Hispanics youth and grownups in the USA experience a lot of acculturation challengesim in their quest to sui in the American society. Thus, social constructionism theory can be used to design interventions that seek to address community-level acculturative exceptions and identification of individual acculturative difficulties with intercultural interaction. This may enhance their racial and ethnic relationships, as well as community health.

How My Theoretical Orientations Will Enhance My Cultural Sensitivity When Working Hispanics and Latino Clients

(A) ASSESSING AND INTERPRETING CLIENTS PROBLEM: While addressing a client's problem, I will consider the following basics: 1. Realities are socially constructed through an individual's interaction with other people. For this reason his or her problem could be as a result of the people they interact with.11. Realities in life are constituted through language. The way people think and perceive concepts is reflected by the language (words) they use. The language itself should not be perceived as fixed as fixed but rather as a pathway to explore one's perceptions and thoughts. It is also correlated with one's behavior; and hence, an important tool in constructing long-lasting solutions with the client/patient. 111. Since knowledge is sustained by a social worker's understanding the client's interpretations of the world should not be based on professional knowledge. On the contrary, understanding the client's problem should be linked to the communication process and the information received. This should be used to construct a professional meaning with the client. (b) PROBLEM INTERVENTION Social constructionism theory explains that an individual's behaviors are shaped by the culture of a certain society. Thus, as a social worker and constructionist. I realize that the client's intervention should be considered in a therapeutic conversation. Importantly the emphasis is not to eliminate or solve the problem but rather offer a conducive environment for conversation. This process starts by learning and using the client's language. I should try to rhyme with his or her thoughts and perceptions. Secondly, I should adopt a collaborative approach; and finally, I have to perceive my client's resistance as a worker-client relationship instead of conceptualizing it as a client's problem.

Definition On The Theory of social construction holds that people are placed in different groups by the society, which, in turn, favors certain strata over others. Thus, the human consciousnesses and behavior depend on three domains of the society: individuals, people, and specific groups and cultural. To understand the behavior of an individual, there is need to explore specific group(s) he/she belongs to, especially cultural and universal factors that dictate the norms of that particular group. Using this theory, asocial work professional can easily synthesize and identify literature of any group's culturally sensitive social work practices.
