H.J is a student in a multi-level classroom, and it's crucial for her progress to be consistently monitored by the teacher to ensure she understands and applies the concepts correctly.
Assessment and Evaluation
of ELLS
(Student from Profiles: #3 H.J)
Assessment
OF
Learning
ORAL
PRESENTATIONS
Oral presentations would help H.J practice her
oral skills with the language so that she could
start easing into using it more often and feeling
comfortable with it. Presentations help students
be organized, gather main points, and improve
on their presentation skills. It also improves
their commuication and will help H.J specially
since she is in grade 10 which means more
presentations are on the way!
PEER
TEACHING
This would benefit H.J as she would be
able to communicate with others by teaching
them a skill or idea that she is familar with or
something she may have had to learn then
teach peers. By teaching peers, it would help
H.J learn and understand the material more in
depth. These ideas or skills could even be
something that is culturally significant to her.
Assessment

PARAGRAPH
FRAMES
TO GUIDE
REFLECTION
Since H.J is able to write phrases and
sentences, according to STEP, it is
also vital to start writing small
paragraphs. This could be done through
paragraph frames that would guide and
assist her in writing a paragraph about
her own reflections. This way she learns
how to start sentences but also keep
her thoughts direct and concise.
SELF-ASSESSMENT
CHECKLISTS
H.J seems to be independent enough
to go through a checklist herself and
see if she is meeting the requirments
of an assignment. Since she was apart
of schooling in Korea, and is in grade
10 I assume her reading is STEP 3 as
well. It is important
to make sure she is able to read and
follow instructions given to he.

ANECDOTAL RECORDS
OF TEACHER
OBSERVATION
Since H.J is in a multi-level
classroom, I think it is important
that she is observed by the teacher
to make sure she is improving and
following the concepts correctly
in class. She should not be ignored
due to the multiple levels.
CLOZE
EXERCISE
I think this H.J would benefit from these
exercises as she seems to know how to
write setences and phrases correctly. She
struggles with spelling but I think this could
be focused on through this exercise. Also,
high frequency or low frequency words
could be emphasized through this activity
of filling in the missing blanks!
INTERACTIVE
JOURNAL
An interactive journal would help the
student express personal notes and
feelings about herself as the student
already likes to talk about things
she is comfortable with such as
her home country. She likes to talk
about her family, friends, and
things that interest her.
