This connection is text to self. The teachings and work ethics of coach carter resemble my soccer coach and how he wants his whole team to be pushed to their full potential and how he achieves this is very similar to what my coach does. He makes us focus more on teamwork and working together rather than just becoming a good player alone.

As a coach he made it so that the team learned different tactics and strategies to improve coordination, teamwork, and organization.

He directed his team to enhance their strengths and work on their weaknesses, and instead of just working on one skill to work on all of their skills.

Connection

This connection is text to text. In The Marrow Thieves, Migwans was very similar to Coach Carter because he had the same qualities and connections to his first nation group that Coach Carter had with his team. One specific example of these qualities is that Migwans looked out for Francis the same way Coach Carter look out for Timo when his cousin died.

Evidence #2

When his team needed help in the desperate moments of their lives then he would be there to help out. For example, when Timo’s cousin died he went to Coach Carter because he had nowhere else to go and Coach Carter let him come back onto the team and try to make a life for himself through his school.

Coach Carter had consequences set in place for the kids on his team that misbehaved or did not follow the rules, these rules were reasonable and made it so that that the team got to get back on track with academics.
