• I want to work with special education students, so the act that impacts what I do the most is IDEA
• It is essential for me that all special needs children receive the education that they deserve.
• For students to IEPs that are individualized for their own needs.
• That parents be involved in the education of their children

Date

In November 29, 1975 the law of Education for all handicapped children act, but it was later changes to the Individuals with disabilities education act.

Reauthorization :

In December 3, 2004 President Bush signed the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act. President Bus reauthorized and revisioned IDEA, it preserves the basic structure and civil rights guarantees of IDEA but also made significant changes to the law.

• Least restrictive environment
• Parent Participation
• Procedural Safeguards

Head Start Act

Head start programs started as a summer school to help low-income students learn what they needed before elementary school. The head start act of 1981 expanded the program.

Reauthorization

Reauthorization :

The Improving Head Start for School Readiness Act of 2007 authorizes the Head Start program. In December 12, 2007 by president Bush.

Key components of Head Start Act

• Parental Training in parenting skills and basic child development
• coordination with home based services
• Programs for homeless infants and toddlers
• Appropriate screenings and referrals with children with documented behavioral issues.

President Bush administration reauthorized the Head Start Program.
