Performance tasks are used to help students apply their learning to a new and authentic situations as means of assessing their understanding and ability to transfer their learning (McTighe & Wiggins, 1999).
This is where the goals are considered, the standard contents are examined and established (national, state, province, and district), and the curriculum expectations are reviewed. It also focuses on transfer of learning, meaning making, and acquisition which help the instructor develop and deepen their understanding of the important ideas and processes that support transfer (McTighe & Wiggins, 1999).
