Six (6) steps of effective Decision Making

Decision making involves a structured process to identify and solve problems effectively. The process begins with defining the problem or opportunity by acknowledging the gap between the current state and the desired state.

Six (6) steps of effective Decision Making

-A discrepancy between an existing and desired state of affairs. A problem exists whenever company or team objectives are not being met. Characteristics of Problems -You must be aware of the problem. Be sure to identify the actual problem rather than a symptom of the problem. -You must be under pressure to act. A true problem puts pressure on the manager to take action. -You must have the authority or resources to act.

-Objectives state what the individual, group, or organization intends to accomplish. -Objectives can address a problem of long or short standing, or they can address opportunities in the marketplace. Criteria Criteria are the standards that must be met to accomplish the objective. -You need to know between must and want -Must criteria have to be met in order to achieve the objectives. -Want criteria are desirable but not absolutely necessary.

Select the Most Feasible Alternative Choose the best alternative to solve the problems Generating and evaluating alternatives at the same time often leads to satisficing and and don’t waste time on poorly developed alternatives Think forward and try to predict possible for outcome. By using step 3 of the decision making process to each alternatives that want to use.

~ Control methods should be developed during planning. ~ The soundness of the decision is judged by its outcomes. - How effectively was the problem resolved by outcomes resulting from the chosen alternatives? - If the problem was not resolved, what went wrong / consider corrective action ? ~ If the implementation continues to go badly, don’t remain married to your decision, that is, don’t rule out a “divorce”.

~ How you implement your plan is crucial to its success or failure?  Putting the chosen alternative into action. - Conveying the decision to and gaining commitment from those who will carry out the decision. - For example, Adidas. The developed a plan to sell, advertise, and distribute TaylorMade golf clubs.

* Identifying viable alternatives * Alternatives are listed that help resolve the problem An innovation alters what is established by generating something new. Lastly, Creativity-the way of thinking that generates new solutions to problems and to get opportunities for term of company strategy.
