STEM Exploration

Integrating subjects through STEAM education involves teaching science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics in a cohesive manner, rather than in isolation. This approach is implemented in various settings, including homes, schools, and extracurricular activities.

STEM Exploration

All of these lead to high levels of engagement

Traditionally, subjects have been taught in isolation STEAM brings them together.

STEM and STEAM Exploration

Where

on the internet/connections around the world?
at school
field trips
extra curricular activities/club in and outside of school
learning commons
in homeroom classes
at home

When

start developing a child's interest in their early years, with a strong background they will remain interested in these fields

Why

prepare students to become innovators, problem solvers and creators, in order to fill STEM jobs we know about now and those that have not yet been created
lack of people to fill jobs, especially women and minorities
more jobs that need math and science in the future
drives our economy

use design process
Evaluate
Test
Create
Design
teacher becomes the facilitator
integrates these subjects and relates directly to the curriculum

In the Learning Commons

visual posters and provocations e.g., design process
makerspaces go hand in hand with STEAM learning
TL supports research and facilitates learning with students
conversations with students to further exploration
promotes/facilitates global connections
