Breast Pump Brainstorming

Designing a breast pump involves several critical considerations to ensure it meets the needs of nursing mothers effectively. One key focus is mimicking the natural suckling of a baby to enhance milk flow and efficiency.

Breast Pump Brainstorming

Increase Excess of milk

-Need to do research on how to mimic the suckling of a baby

Pumps a lot on the first cycle
Cycles of baby suckling could increase
Pump is strong enough so that it can suck out as much milk as possible, without harming the mother.

Comfortably

adjustable for different breast sizes
Can make some sort of additive (cushion for nipple)
materials used
could use plastic to go around the nipple so breast shield does not get dirty
rubber breast shield
Could use soft cotton as breast shield
Comfortable enough for the mothers to be able to use this tool without not feeling safe. Comfortable enough for mother's to want to keep using the breast pump, and recommend others.

Pumping Breast Milk

pumping both breasts at same time
amount of time it takes to pump the milk
can use a squeezable dog toy
mimics baby suckling

Not Visible

tube insides the straps of a satchel that lead into a certain pocket.
Make it smaller
The thin tube should go down spine and connect to plastic bags on the back pockets
Get thin tub that milk will flow through
Tube is shield by bra
Sport Bra or Bra

Storing

pump the milk directly into the storage for milk
Make sure that after milk is pumped, that it is refrigerated or stored so that, if needed, can be used later.
Can use a mall insulated satchel purse
can use glass mason milk jars
make less parts
Plastic Bags
