Public Domain refers to creative materials that are not protected by intellectual property laws such as copyright, trademark, or patent laws. Everyone can use a public domain work without getting permission, but no one can own it.

The four points of fair use is:

• Use a small amount of the work
• Rework the work and use it in a different way
• Use it for non-profit purposes
• Add new meaning to the work

The work must be used for:

• School Assignments and Educational Purposes
• News Reporting
• Commenting or Criticizing
• Comedy or Parady

Most of the information online is copyrighted, however educators has some liberty in using materials for educational and non-profit purposes. But there are some instances in which using materials online is prohibited. In traditional copyright, work cannot be duplicated or changed without the permission of the creator.
