What has the government done?

Public colleges

Although there are excellent colleges around the country, it is hard to be accepted by one of those due to the amount of people that want to study in this places

Education deparment has created this project to help people who live in remote areas to access to education

UNAD

UNAD offers virtual programs. You can find degrees from $650.000 to $1'000.000 per semester

SENA

SENA offers technical and technologist programs

Context

People think that there are "better" and "faster" ways to be succesful

In some cases, teenagers get involved in illegal issues

There aren't companies or factories in small towns or rural areas

The economy activity in these areas is related to farming or commerce

Earnings in families are not enought

Many teenagers prefers to work

There are only collegues in capital or big cities

Usually people can't afford for a living in this cities

Many people in Colombia can´t access to a collegue

Private eduacation is expensive and public education doesn't have enought budget

If there are some solutions, what's wrong?

Although the government has created institutions in remote areas it's still hard to some people to go to this places

There is not internet in many towns around the country

Some of these institutions doesn't offer degrees related with the needs pf the areas

Although people can study in their towns, they can only get a job in the cities

People are not interested in getting a collegue degree

In many cases, corruption doesn't allow the correct operating of this institutions

The quality of education that this institutions gives is not good enough

Some solutions

Investigate about the needs of an area and offer study programs that can improve the life of people

Create programs that allow people to work at the same time that they study

Improve the quality of elementary education

Encourage factories and companies to create vacancies in different places of the country

Show to the people how a degree can improve their lives
