MATH 1512-70

This educational resource aims to inform K-6 students about various algebraic equations, providing a useful refresher for parents needing to brush up on their math skills. It covers different types of algebra equations such as quadratic, linear, exponential, and radical equations, each explained with definitions and examples.

Concepts of Algebra Equations

The goal of this mind map is to inform students K-6 about algebra equations. This map also includes information that is helpful for parents who need some refreshing on their math skills about algebra.

Examples of algebra equations

I have provided a few different examples of algebra equations and the steps that should be taken to get to the correct answer. The website that is included in this section of the map provided extra information about algebra equations. The other website that is linked in this section of the map provides the order of operations video.

x=2
10/5=x
10=5x
15-5=5x

How to solve an algebra equation

There are specific ways that a student needs to do while solving an algebra equation in order to get to the right answer. I have provided a few different videos and activities in this section of the mind map for the students to be able to have an interaction as to how to solve an algebra equation.

More examples of algebra equations

I have added a some different examples of algebra problems. The examples that are listed are linear and quadratic. The cheat sheet that is provided gives the students directions as to what is being asked of them for each type of algebra problem that they will commonly come across while doing math homework.

This is an example of a linear equation. It is usually a formula that is used to generate a graph.

Different algebra equations

I have provided a few different names of equations that are common to solve for the students. There are links provided for each equation as to what they look like and the definition of each equation is also provided under each of the specific subtopics.

exponential equations

 An exponential equation is one in which a variable occurs in the exponent.

quadratic equations

A quadratic equation is an equation of the second degree, meaning it contains at least one term that is squared.

radical equations

A radical equation is an equation in which a variable is under a radical.

linear equations

A linear equation is any equation such that the sum of two solutions is a solution, and a constant multiple of a solution is a solution.

Parts of a algebra equation

I am providing these definitions to the pieces of an algebra equation so that the students can better understand what they are trying to find in solving each piece of the equation. The link that is provided in this section of the map is the website that I used to find the definitions of the words.

like terms: the terms that have the same variables with the same exponents.
degree: the sum of the terms exponents
coefficient: the numbers being multiplied by the variables.
term: the numbers, variables or numbers being multiplied by the variable in the equation.
