Good morning judges, teachers and fellow students. On July 1 st 2018, Canada will be the second country in the world to legalize the growing, sale and possession of marijuana for medical and recreational use. Marijuana and its use can be seen as a very controversial topic. I will discuss a bit of its background, the side effects and the new law now before our government.
the new laws in canada

Our current government is planning to legalize marijuana use by Canada Day 2018.

A majority of Canadians support the legalization. A bill will be introduced in parliament this April 20.

Our current Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, promised to legalize marijuana when he was campaigning.

When it becomes legal for adults in Canada, the government will have to introduce a process to control its sale and consumption. It will also have to determine how to sell it. Once it is legal they can control who uses it.

It will be interesting to see this legal process.
