The period following World War II brought significant changes and challenges to various societal groups in Canada. First Nations peoples faced the dilemma of having to relinquish their status to gain the right to vote.
Teens were not finish their education, instead they went into the workforce.
First, the pension paid only $20 a month. Second,
status Indians were excluded. And third, it was available only to people who passed a test
First Nations could vote only if they gave up their rights as status Indians
Women made up only 23% of the work force by 1951
Early 1940s women where told to leave the work force to do feminine pursuits
First Nations, Métis, and Inuit; new immigrants; visible minorities; working women; and Canadians with physical or intellectual disabilities had lots of trouble wit acceptance.
