Logos

Logos in this chat is all about helping each other through problems, both the homework kind and the day-to-day psychological kind. We help each other work problems through and see the bigger picture.
There is also a dude in out chat that we just named "Dad" because he is like a father to our groupchat. We all love him dearly and he is a super nice guy. He definitely helps us with homework since we don't really know what is going on sometimes, but he does, so it is really great.
Another example is that of helping Frog with his depressive attitude. He's a good dude though, so it wasn't too difficul, but we just tried to cheer him up and we definitely value him in our community and make him feel loved.
One example of this is that one of the members, Dweeb, has trouble with his parents and feels like they are very pushy about their beliefs on him. So we did the best to advise him the best we could about his situation. All turned out well and he is doing better in school and in life in general.

Ethos

There are two moderators in our chat, although we don't really treat them as superiors. They're just the ones who can do changes to the chat. They also are our social leaders too, we all revere them and the things they say carry actual weight. Even if they weren't the leaders, we'd still respect what they had to say.
Rodrigues, Thiago. “Getting Group Behavior Insights through Discord Servers.” Medium, Towards Data Science, 8 Nov. 2020

This is more about the background things that moderators of a server can choose to do, but definitely don't have to do. Such as collecting data on who says stuff and at what time of day is everyone on the server most active. Not really pertinent here, but useful knowledge.

Mazūra, Justinas. “Discord Privacy: The Ultimate Guide to Stay Safe in Discord.” CyberNews, 28 Sept. 2021

Talks about cybersecurity and being safe online which really isn't a problem in our Discord, but it is good knowledge to know for other discord servers that I am in.

“Discord Moderator Academy.” Discord

This source talks about the internationalization of discord servers and how some servers who want to go international should follow these rules. Not super applicable, but it makes sense

Patel, Neil. “Discord: A Marketer's Guide.” Neil Patel, 28 Aug. 2021

This talks about the specifics of how discord servers work, so it makes sense that this source would help articulate the specifics of that.

Leaders are Kevbeens and melsinthehouse

Pathos

There is a lot of pathos in this community. Lots of people share how they're feeling at the moment and express what they're struggling with. Then someone in the server can relate and helps the person at least feel better about their situation.
Pierce, David. “How Discord (Somewhat Accidentally) Invented the Future of the Internet.” Protocol, Protocol - The People, Power and Politics of Tech, 1 Nov. 2020,

This is more about the social aspect of Discord that is pertains more to the STEM support group. I really like having the ability to speak with online friends and help them and have them help me as well.

SkyDusk talked about having trouble identifying who she was. During COVID and after COVID, we are all struggling to survive both physically and academically. Kevbeens then posted a wonderful quote about how we are who we are trying to be.

"I think it’s easy for us to lost touch with ourselves, especially in today’s environment, but remember you are who you’re trying to be. If you’re trying to be successful, you’re successful. If you’re trying to be kind and generous, you’ll be kind and generous. As you work on yourself one trait at a time, you’ll become the best version of you. Knowing yourself isn’t about defining who you are, it’s about becoming who you want to be." ~Kevbeens
