Select texts that are above student reading level to expose them to richer vocabulary.

The teacher should consider the age, interests, and needs of students when selecting texts.

Students should see themselves reflected in the resources

Offer variety to students.

Students become aware of the new strategy by listening attentively.

The teacher is responsible for reading the text and students are expected to listen attentively.

When reading a new text, the teacher use modelled reading to introduce a new strategy.
