Introduction

Currently there is no CAPS document specifically for ICT but rather CAPS for Information Technology in which Communication Technology forms part of the six topic areas of Information Technology curriculum that support the teaching of digitally informed learners.
Digital media has brought the revolutionized information society and advances in ICTs that have opened up new learning opportunities and provided access to educational resources well beyond those traditionally available.
In this subunit we explore the role of CAPS in ICT integration in the classroom. Information and communication technologies (ICTs) forms central part of the deviations taking place throughout the world through digital media that has brought modernized changes in the learning and teaching process.
A National Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement (CAPS) is a single, comprehensive, and concise policy document for learning and teaching in South African schools, Department of Basic Education, (2011).
