Major accomplishments

Among Rothko's special awards were his election to the National Institute of Arts and Letters in 1968 and the honorary degree of doctor of fine arts from Yale University in 1969.

Education

In 1929 Rothko started teaching at the Center Academy of the Brooklyn Jewish Center

Rothko then moved to New York City, after leaving Yale University, and studied at Art Students League

Rothko studied liberal arts and sciences during his time at Yale University

Rothko graduated from Portland's Lincoln High School in 1921

Rothko attended Yale University and left without graduating on 1923

Challenges

Rothko commited suicide at age 67 in 1970

Rothko dropped out of Yale because of heavy drinking destroying his health

Early life

Mark Rothko immigrated to the United States when he was 10 years old and settled in Portland, Oregano

Mark Rothko was born on September 25, 1903 in Daugavpils, Latvia. (Present day Latvia and Russia back when Rothko was born)
